Under the Building Regulations, before an oil-fired appliance or an oil storage tank is installed or replaced, a Building Notice must be obtained from the local authority. A fee is payable, and the work should be inspected by the Building Control Officer. OFTEC Registered technicians are exempt from this requirement, and can self-certify work for which they are Registered. This saves you time, effort and money. When the burner locks out, it indicates that there is a problem within the boiler system. The engineer should be contacted as soon as possible. If your boiler has stopped operating unexpectedly, then it may have encountered a problem and locked out, in this case, press the red lit lockout button on the front of the burner a couple of times. If the boiler fails to ignite, then there is a problem that needs urgent attention, you should contact us for repair as soon as possible. Do not keep resetting the system as this may cause more problems which will cost more to repair. If the system works well after a reset then servicing may not be as urgent. Remember that oil fired boilers should be serviced each year for optimum performance and fuel efficiency.
